Equal Opportunites
Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service is an equal opportunity employer and applications from people of any race, colour, nationality, ethnic origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, marital status or disability are welcomed
When asked to think about the fire and rescue service, many people conjure up an image of a fire engine responding to a call or firefighters in action at the scene of an incident.
But this only portrays the 'sharp' end of the firefighter's job. An important fact appreciated by all firefighters is that if it were not for the dedication and support of the team of people involved behind the scenes, Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service could not function as a first-rate emergency service. Included in this team are:
- Fire Control Staff, who receive all emergency calls and operate the computer-controlled mobilising system
- The mechanics who maintain our fleet or appliances and other vehicles
The technicians who install and maintain our communication equipment
- Staff in our stores who provide new clothing and equipment
- The cooks who cater for us
- The cleaners who keep our stations in a clean and hygienic condition
- The administrative staff who keep things ticking over at headquarters and some of our larger fire stations
It is not just firefighters who have to work closely as a team - our whole organisation depends on the team effort from everyone.
