Three teams from Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service successfully completed the Three Peaks Challenge yesterday afternoon, and another three will tackle it on Thursday and Friday.
Organised annually by The Fire Fighters Charity and the Fire Service Sports and Athletics Association, it's the biggest sporting event in the fire service calendar.
In order to complete it, teams have to climb the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales - Scafell Pike (978m), Ben Nevis (1,344m) and Snowdon (1,085m) - within 24 hours, raising as much money as possible for charity in the process.
After enduring appalling weather on Ben Nevis and cold, damp and windy conditions on Scafell Pike, our climbers were rewarded with a sunny ascent of Snowdon.
Six teams from Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service entered this year, comprising both firefighters and support staff. Team members come from Aylesbury, Beaconsfield, Bletchley, Broughton and Great Holm Fire Stations and the organisation’s two offices in Aylesbury.
