Local councils, Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service, Thames Valley Police, the Environment Agency and the National Flood Forum are working together to promote awareness about flooding.

The Thames Valley Flood Awareness Month started this week with an exhibition at Stoke Goldington Village Hall on Monday and at St Mary Magdelene Church Hall in Stony Stratford on Tuesday. Another four events are taking place in Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes:

  • 8 October - Heronsgate School Hall, Walnut Tree, Milton Keynes, 3.30pm to 7.30pm

  • 9 October - Shelley Theatre, Court Garden Leisure Complex, Pound Lane, Marlow, 2pm to 7pm

  • 10 October - Newport Pagnell Fire Station, 10am to 7.30pm

  • 30 October - Buckingham Community Centre, Cornwalls Meadow, 2pm to 8pm

Ian Taylor, Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service's Emergency Planning Manager, said: "The events show you how to prepare for flooding by demonstrating practical actions you can take to reduce damage to your property. They also give you advice on how to stay safe during a flood.
