Buckingham's firefighters have handed over the second of two £2,500 charity cheques following last year’s successful fundraising ball.
They made the official presentation to Buckingham Hospital’s League of Friends, who will use the money to buy special wheelchairs for the physiotherapy unit.
The other cheque for £2,500 was presented to The Fire Fighters Charity last year.
The ball was held on 25 June at Villiers Hotel's Old Town Hall in Buckingham. The event’s main sponsors were FireAngel, who supply smoke alarms to Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service.
A total of £5,651.11 was raised, with £651.11 remaining in the bank to help fund preparations for this year's event.
Watch Manager John Robinson, one of the organisers, said: "Our first charity ball, which was held in 2010, was a hard act to follow because of its huge success.
“However, due to the massive support of the local community and businesses, and the overwhelming generosity of guests on the night, the 2011 event proved to be even more successful.
“These charities are close to our hearts, and we are delighted that everyone has helped us raise so much money for them."
