Firefighters managed to prevent a fire which damaged a shop and office in Marlow High Street this morning from spreading to adjacent buildings.
Crews from Marlow, High Wycombe and Beaconsfield were called to the incident shortly after 4.30am. The fire broke out between the ceiling of Haringtons Hair Salon and the floor of the office above, and is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
Station Manager Keith Williams, the incident commander, said: "Firefighters quickly located the source of the fire and worked hard to limit the damage it caused and to prevent it from spreading to the properties on either side."
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels to put out the fire and a fan to clear away the smoke, and helped salvage property.
Crews left the scene at about 8.30am. Firefighters from Marlow, led by Watch Manager Richard Boast, carried out a reinspection at about 10am.
