A five per cent council tax rise - equivalent to an extra £2.62 a year for a band D council tax payer - was approved by Buckinghamshire & Milton Keynes Fire Authority today.

Members set a budget of £27,453,147 for the year. A band D council tax payer will pay a total of £54.95 towards the fire and emergency prevention, protection and response services provided by Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service from 1 April 2008 to 31 March 2009. The band D contribution for 2007-2008 was £52.33.

Buckinghamshire & Milton Keynes Fire Authority receives about 4p in every pound of your total council tax bill. The rest pays for council and police services.
