Five firefighters are leaving their fire engine behind and walking twenty miles for charity this weekend – in full kit and breathing apparatus!.
Leaving Aylesbury Fire Station at 9am on Sunday 5 October the team from Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service will walk to Amersham Fire Station passing through Wendover and Great Missenden on the way, hoping to arrive at their destination by 4pm.
Firefighter Steve Pettit, based at Amersham Fire Station, organised the event, which will raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity and Dreamflight, a registered UK charity whose purpose is to take seriously ill and disabled children on their 'Holiday of a Lifetime' to the theme parks of Central Florida.
“We are hoping that we will be able to raise awareness of these two worthwhile charities and raise some much needed funds too”.
Joining Steve are Michael Emm and Danny Wallis from Amersham Fire Station and Ian Newton and Chris Coverley from the Urban Search and Rescue team based at Beaconsfield Fire Station.
Sponsorship for this charity walk would be greatly received by Steve and the team, who are hoping to raise over £500.
“Please help us to support these fabulous causes. If you see us on our journey please come and join us”.
If you would like to sponsor the team please contact Steve at Amersham Fire Station on 01494 724964 or find them along their route from Aylesbury to Amersham on Sunday.
