5 September 2011
Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal collision involving three vehicles between Marlow and Handy Cross today (Monday 5 September).
Just after midnight, a blue Citroen Saxo collided with a green Rover 214 on the southbound carriageway of the A404.
The impact forced the female passenger of the Saxo on to the opposite carriageway where she was hit by a silver Ford Transit van travelling northbound. The victim, who is believed to be a 19-year-old local woman, died at the scene.
The male driver of the Citroen Saxo was taken to Wexham Park Hospital where his injuries are said to be serious but not life-threatening.
The male drivers of the other two vehicles were treated for shock. The road was closed in both directions for around nine hours.
Firefighters from High Wycombe Fire Station were among the emergency services called to the scene.
Sergeant Simon Hills, of Thames Valley Police's Roads Policing, said: "We would like to speak to anyone who might have seen either the Citroen or the Rover prior to this accident, whichever carriageway they were travelling on."
Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact the Roads Death Investigation Team at Aylesbury, quoting URN 3 of 5/9, using the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre number, 0845 8 505 505. If you don’t want to speak to police or leave your name, please call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
