8 June 2010
Buckinghamshire & Milton Keynes Fire Authority’s streamlined line-up for 2010-2011 has now been confirmed.
There are two new faces on the authority, which has reduced its membership from 21 to 17, and the return of a member after a five-year absence.
The new members are Councillor David Watson, the Buckinghamshire County Council member for Thames division, which includes Bourne End, Flackwell Heath and Little Marlow, and Councillor Robert Exon, one of the Bradwell ward representatives on Milton Keynes Council.
Reappointed after last being a member in 2005 is Councillor Richard Pushman, the Buckinghamshire County Council member for Greater Hughenden division, which includes Great Kingshill, Naphill and Walters Ash.
The Fire Authority has said farewell to the following councillors who were members in 2009-2010: Doug Anson, Patricia Birchley, Avril Davies, Catriona Morris, Sam Potts, Cec Tallack and Bob Woollard.
Buckinghamshire & Milton Keynes Fire Authority is a publicly accountable body which manages Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service on behalf of the communities it serves. Members make decisions on matters including policy, finance and resources.
Because Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service operates in an area served by Buckinghamshire County Council and Milton Keynes Council, it is a "combined" authority comprising elected members from both councils.
Their numbers are proportional to the populations they represent, with 12 members from Buckinghamshire County Council and five from Milton Keynes Council.
Buckinghamshire & Milton Keynes Fire Authority's next meeting is the annual meeting this coming Friday, 11 June. It will be held in meeting room 1 at Brigade Headquarters, Stocklake, Aylesbury, starting at 11am. Click here for the agenda and papers.
