Saturday’s car washes at fire stations in Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes raised more than £4,000 for The Fire Fighters Charity.

The annual event - the charity’s largest national fundraising event of the year - involves stations throughout the UK washing the nation’s cars, in exchange for a donation.

Car washes took place at seven of our 20 stations, with crews from Amersham joining in at Gerrards Cross. The event also gave firefighters an opportunity to promote important community safety initiatives.

Darryl Keen, Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service's representative on The Fire Fighters Charity, said: "I would like to thank everyone for supporting this event so generously, and of course our firefighters and helpers for putting such a huge effort into the day.”

Saturday’s provisional totals are:

  • Aylesbury, £928.05
  • Beaconsfield, £589.93
  • Bletchley, £250
  • Broughton, £1,121
  • Gerrards Cross (with Amersham), £834.73
  • Great Holm, £350
  • Waddesdon, £276

Firefighters would like to thank local organisations who supported the events by providing refreshments and other services, including Costco Milton Keynes and Screen.
