Firefighters managed to prevent a fire that destroyed a terraced house last night from spreading to neighbouring properties
Three crews from High Wycombe and one from Beaconsfield were called to Oakridge Road, High Wycombe, at 6.14pm, along with Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service’s Command and Control Unit from Aylesbury and a number of officers.
Station Manager Graham Field, the incident commander, said: “They arrived to find a very serious and fully-developed fire in a two-storey mid-terraced house.
“It was threatening to involve neighbouring properties, and they worked very hard to prevent it from taking hold.”
No-one was in the house when they arrived. Firefighters used four sets of breathing apparatus, two jets, two hose reels and a ventilation fan.
The cause of the fire is being investigated. Firefighters returned to the scene later in the evening to reinspect the property.
