Man dies after gas cylinder explosion

A man died after a gas cylinder exploded while it was being filled yesterday afternoon. Another man was injured in the incident in Denham.

Firefighters from Gerrards Cross and Hillingdon were called to business premises in Oxford Road at 5.31pm, along with Thames Valley Police and the ambulance and air ambulance services.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus isolated the gas and electricity supplies and ventilated the building.

The two men were taken to London hospitals. One man died from his injuries and the other remains in hospital with serious leg and hand injuries. No-one else was injured.

Thames Valley Police have launched a joint investigation with the Heath and Safety Executive.
