Look out for these free packs at the Henley Show on Saturday.
9 September 2009
Visitors to Saturday's (12 September) Henley Show will be offered the opportunity to get their hands on a copy of a special rural safety pack.
Firefighters from Marlow and Jo Oliver from Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service's community safety team are taking Marlow's fire engine and a mobile exhibition unit to the event, which takes place at Greenlands Farm, Hambleden, between 9am and 6pm.
Members of the rural community will be offered one of the multi-agency packs, which contain information to help them ensure the safety of their premises and property from criminal activity and fire, as well as information on various agencies, organisations and businesses that offer assistance and support to rural businesses and residents.
Attendees will also be able to find out about more general road, fire and community safety activities, and request free fire safety checks in their homes.
Jo said: “The annual Henley Show is a big diary date for a number of our rural community members. It also hosts one of the area’s big horse shows, so there should be quite a gathering of people to whom the rural safety initiative could be of interest or benefit.
“The aim of the rural safety initiative is to help provide information that could help landowners, farmers, horse owners and residents of rural areas to avoid having to call us to an emergency situation, and to help them introduce measures that could help should an emergency arise.”
