Change of venue for charity car wash

8 June 2009

The charity car wash by firefighters in Great Missenden on 20 June will now be held at Great Missenden Fire Station instead of The Misbourne School.

The school kindly offered to host the event when it was feared the fire station would be off-limits because of building work. However, builders have given it the all-clear because they will only be a few days into their 20-week contract to extend and refurbish the building.

The car wash will be raising money for The Fire Fighters Charity, a national charity providing assistance to serving and retired fire and rescue service staff, their families and dependants.

Terry Ridgley, Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service's representative on The Fire Fighters Charity , said: "We hope this event will help us raise the profile of our charity and bring in some much-needed funds for it."

Firefighters will will be in action with their sponges and buckets of water from 10am to 4pm.
