Fire involving 50 cars

19 May 2009

About 50 cars were destroyed last night in a fire at a scrapyard in Iver.

Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service was called to the incident at On Time Recovery in Court Lane at 11.47pm.

Around 30 firefighters from Gerrards Cross, Beaconsfield, Princes Risborough, Stokenchurch, Aylesbury, Langley and Slough tackled the blaze using two main jets, two hose reels and compressed air foam.

Station Manager Keith Williams, incident commander, said: “The fire was already well-established when the crews arrived. Their quick actions prevented the fire from spreading to the remaining cars in the yard.”

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
