Assistant Chief Fire Officer Bryan Dugdale said: “It’s a difficult time for the family and for the community as a whole, and our thoughts are very much with everyone who has been affected by the tragedy.

“We are hoping that our presence there today will go some way towards reassuring people and helping them come to terms with what has happened.

“We also want to make sure that local people have easy access to any fire safety advice they may be seeking.”

Firefighters are offering to carry out free fire safety checks in people’s homes, fitting free smoke alarms where necessary.

If you would like to book one of these checks, which normally take about 30 minutes, ring 01296 744477, email cs@bucksfire.gov.uk or fill in the online form at www.bucksfire.gov.uk/bucksfire/free
