About 40 firefighters and officers have been at the scene of a fire in a single-story building at Gulliver’s Land, Milton Keynes, this morning.
Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service was called to the 40 metre by 30 metre theme park building in Livingstone Drive, Newlands, at 3.36am.
Crews from Broughton, Great Holm, Newport Pagnell and High Wycombe attended along with the Incident Command Unit based at Aylesbury.
Station Manager Steve Wells, Incident Commander, said: “On arrival, firefighters were faced with a well-developed fire in a commercial building used as a restaurant and indoor play area in the Gully’s World area of the park. They were able to get water inside the building while also tackling the fire from the outside.”
“Crews worked extremely hard to stop the fire spreading to nearby attractions at the park while also trying to bring under control a fire that had already taken hold before we were called.”
Firefighters used three main jets, two sets of breathing apparatus, and a turntable ladder to put out the fire. Water from the nearby canal was used to supplement the water supply.
Relief crews were brought in shortly after 9am, and an investigation into the cause of the fire is being carried out today.
Gulliver’s is a family theme park designed to cater for families with children between the age of two and thirteen. The park is due to open for visitors on Saturday as normal however, anyone wishing to visit the park is advised to contact Gulliver’s Land directly.
