Come and get your hot pancakes!

8 December 2009

Firefighters from Aylesbury Fire Station are inviting shoppers to join them for hot pancakes and their own special recipe, alcohol-free winter punch in a festive fundraising initiative.

They will be flipping their pancakes and warming their fruit punch at the town's Market Square next Wednesday, 16 December.

Firefighters from White Watch will be on hand between 10am and 7.30pm to wish shoppers a merry Christmas and pass on some festive fire safety tips – while collecting donations for the Cancer Care and Haematology Fund at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and The Fire Fighters Charity.

Crew Manager Andy Courtney from Aylesbury White Watch said: “We’re really looking forward to getting out there, showing off our pancake skills and offering some topical tips to residents and shoppers of our town, while collecting a bit of cash for two worthy causes.

“We will be offering jam and chocolate toppings for the pancakes, as well as the good old traditional favourite of lemon and sugar, so alongside the fruit punch we are hoping there will be something for everyone!”

The Fire Fighters Charity is a national charity which provides assistance to serving and retired fire and rescue service staff, their families and dependants.

The Cancer Care and Haematology Fund helps people suffering from cancer or haematological diseases and provides a unit designed to offer chemotherapy in pleasant surroundings.
