The annual fund-raising event in memory of popular Aylesbury firefighter Alistair “Ali” Haddow takes place on Friday 4 September at Silverstone Golf Club near Stowe.

The Ali Haddow Memorial Fund Golf Day has raised £6,500 for The Fire Fighters Charity since it was first held two years ago. This year it will also be raising money for the Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust.

Ali died in 2007 just a few years after retiring following 30 years’ service with Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service.

Fund chairman Dean Elliott, who works at Brigade Headquarters in Aylesbury, said: “Ali used his passion for sport as a means to help raise thousands of pounds for many local charitable causes.

“Fittingly, friends from the three main circles Ali moved in – Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service, Bernewode Golf Society and his home village of Grendon Underwood – now come together every year to carry on the tradition.”

Up to 90 people will be taking part in this year's competition, which local organisations have supported by donating raffle prizes.
