Winslow Fire Station is hosting a special evening for young drivers on Thursday next week (13 November).

Bring in your car, motorbike or scooter and firefighters will carry out a free safety check. It’s first come, first served, and the event runs from 7.30pm to 9pm.

Keith Wheeler, Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service’s road safety manager, said: “The evening is for passengers too, so bring in your friends for a cup of tea and a chat about cars.

“We are particularly keen to meet young drivers and their passengers as statistics show that they make up a disproportionate number of casualties in road traffic collisions.

“Last year, nearly a quarter of the people killed or seriously injured on roads in the Thames Valley area came from the 17-24 age group.”
