Great Holm Fire Station’s open day takes place on Saturday 20 September. The event, which runs from 12 noon to 4pm, will be raising money for The Fire Fighters Charity.
Attractions include:
- A demonstration showing how dangerous it is to try to tackle a chip pan fire with water.
- A demonstration by firefighters showing how they release someone who is trapped in a vehicle following a crash.
- A mobile community safety activity centre for children, called the Firefighter Experience.
There will also be a bouncy castle, fairground rides, a barbecue, refreshments and a tombola.
Parking will be opposite the fire station at SMC Pneumatics in Vincent Avenue, Crownhill.
Station Manager Paul Harrison said: “Last year we attracted around 2,000 people and passed on some important safety messages during what we hope was an entertaining afternoon. We look forward to welcoming everyone to this year’s event and hope they will enjoy what we have lined up for them.”
The three vehicles based at Great Holm Fire Station will also be on display, along with vehicles from other stations and the brand new British Red Cross Fire & Emergency Support Service vehicle based at Bletchley.
The Fire Fighters Charity is a national charity which provides assistance to serving and retired fire and rescue service staff, their families and dependants.
