24 December 2008

Generous shoppers helped Amersham Fire Station collect £3,150 for charity.

Firefighters from Red and Blue Watches and the Retained Duty System crew greeted shoppers on two occasions last week.

Collecting outside Tesco on Monday 15 December between 10.30am and 7pm the crews raised £1,500.

On Saturday 22 December the crews were out again, this time in Amersham town centre, and collected £1,650.

Firefighter Steve Pettit, from Red Watch at Amersham Fire Station said: “We would like to thank the public for their generosity, we were delighted with the total - £3,150 is a fantastic amount!

“We would also like to St Mary’s Church in Old Amersham for allowing us to park one of our fire engines there.”

The money raised will be donated to The Fire Fighters Charity, St Mary’s Church in Amersham and www.LoveforLeala.com
