A man escaped injury this morning after a fire broke out in the bedroom of a house in High Wycombe.

Crews from High Wycombe Fire Station were called to the incident in Kingston Road at 10.41am.

Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire with hose reels before clearing the smoke and cooling the scene with a PPV fan.

Station Manager John Bull, who also attended the incident, said: “The whole of the first floor was damaged by fire. Fortunately the man was able to get out safely before it took hold.”

The man was treated for the effects of breathing in smoke. An investigation into the cause of the fire has started.
