Firefighters at Gerrards Cross are encouraging schools and other organisations to invite them to fetes and displays this year.

They are aiming to attend as many as possible in Gerrards Cross, Denham, Iver, Iver Heath and the Chalfonts to help spread vital community safety messages to people from all age groups.

Watch Manager Denis Melia said: “With the help of event organisers, we are hoping to put together a calendar of public events taking place in the area in the summer and autumn of 2008.

“If organisers would like us to attend with our fire appliance, and perhaps put on a fire safety or road safety display, we would be happy to talk to them and try to arrange it.

“We want to do everything we can to make sure our local communities are aware of some of the main causes of emergency incidents, and what steps they can take to make sure they are not involved on one.

“A social family event provides the ideal atmosphere for giving and receiving this type of information.”
