Five-year-old Jorja Jackson enjoyed trying out this hose reel jet at Saturday's open day so much that we think she might become a firefighter one day!

Saturday's open day at Great Holm Fire Station raised more than £1,300 for The Fire Fighter's Charity.

The station welcomed more than 800 visitors and put on a variety of displays, including demonstrations showing how dangerous it is to try to tackle a chip pan fire with water, how firefighters release someone who is trapped in a vehicle following a crash and how they rescue someone trapped in a burning building.

The afternoon also featured a rescue demonstration by Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service's Urban Search and Rescue technicians based at Beaconsfield Fire Stations.

The three vehicles based at Great Holm Fire Station will also be on display, along with a turntable ladder and the brand new British Red Cross Fire & Emergency Support Service vehicle based at Bletchley.

Station Manager Paul Harrison said: “We'd like to thank everyone who came to our open day. We hope everyone had fun and picked up some important safety messages at the same time."

The Fire Fighters Charity is a national charity which provides assistance to serving and retired fire and rescue service staff, their families and dependants.
