Firefighters attending a suspected arson attack on a house in Milton Keynes this morning prevented it from destroying the building.
Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service received the call at 2.34am to a property in Spencer, Stantonbury. Crews from Broughton and Newport Pagnell arrived to find the fire, which is believed to have started on the first floor of the two-storey property, already well developed.
Firefighters used six sets of breathing apparatus and two hose reels.
Station Manager David Norris, who was also at the scene, praised the crews. He said: “Due to the internal layout of the property and the fire already being well developed, the heat inside the house was very intense. The firefighters fought hard in difficult circumstances to stop the fire from becoming more serious.”
There was nobody in the house at the time. A fire investigation is being carried out to determine the cause of the fire.
