Four cows escaped from a trailer on the M1 this morning after the vehicle towing it was involved in a collision with a lorry.
It happened on the southbound stretch between the Newport Pagnell service area and junction 14, Milton Keynes.
Firefighters from Broughton, Newport Pagnell and Northamptonshire attended, along with representatives from Thames Valley Police and South Central Ambulance Service. They were called at 9.08am.
The driver of the vehicle towing the trailer was released, injured, before they arrived. One of the cows was also injured.
Firefighters and other emergency service staff managed to usher the cows into a field after cutting a hole in a fence.
Firefighters were starting to leave the scene at about 10.30am. The incident brought traffic to a standstill on both carriageways.
