Crews from Aylesbury Fire Station are inviting shoppers to join them for hot pancakes and their own special recipe alcohol-free, warming winter punch, in a festive fundraising initiative.
The firefighters will be flipping their pancakes and warming their spicy fruit punch at the town's late night Christmas shopping event next Monday, 22 December.
Firefighters from each of the station’s four watches will be on hand in Market Square between 5pm and 8pm to wish shoppers a Merry Christmas and pass on some festive fire safety tips – while collecting donations for the Cancer Care and Haematology Fund at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and The Fire Fighters Charity.
Crew Manager Andy Courtney from Aylesbury White Watch said: “We’re really looking forward to getting out there, showing off our pancake skills and perhaps offering some topical tips to residents and shoppers of our town, while collecting a bit of cash for two worthy causes.
“We will be offering jam, maple syrup and chocolate toppings for the pancakes, as well as the good old traditional favourite of lemon and sugar, so alongside the fruit punch we are hoping there will be something for everyone!”
The Fire Fighters Charity is a national charity which provides assistance to serving and retired fire and rescue service staff, their families and dependants.
The Cancer Care and Haematology Fund carry out activities that provide for the relief of sickness amongst persons suffering from cancer or haematological diseases in particular by the provision of a unit designed to offer chemotherapy in pleasant surroundings.
