Booklet to help people after a fire or flood

29 May 2008

A new booklet which aims to help people deal with the aftermath of a fire or flood in their home has been issued today by Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service.

After the Fire is a 12-page guide to the practical issues that need to be addressed, and the organisations that are there to help.

Terry Ridgley, head of the community safety team, said: “After we have dealt with an emergency in someone’s home, there comes a point where we have to leave.

“This can be a traumatic and stressful time for householders, so the booklet is designed to offer a helping hand once we’ve left the scene.

“It contains information to help people deal with their immediate concerns after a fire or flood, along with a guide to some of the other agencies who are there to provide help and advice.”

The booklets will be handed out by fire crews when they leave the scene of an incident. Click here to see a PDF.
