Appeal for witnesses after arson attack

29 December 2006

Police are appealing for information after an arson attack at a block of flats in Milton Keynes.

Officers believe the fire was started deliberately in a car port beneath a three storey building containing flats in Gurnards Avenue, Fishermead.

Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service managed to stop the flames before they spread to the building, which was occupied at the time, and no one was injured.
The incident happened at about 1.30am on Saturday 16 December.

Det Con Richard Jones, investigating the incident, said: “The outcome of this fire could have been much worse. Thankfully the fire service managed to put out the flames quickly before they spread to the flats putting lives seriously in danger.

“This is a very serious incident and I am keen to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity around Gurnards Avenue at the time of the fire.”

Anyone with information about the fire should contact Det Con Jones at Milton Keynes CID via the Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505. If you don’t want to talk to police and don’t want to leave your name call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
