Waddesdon Fire Station's fire appliance (registration number Y76MWL, call sign WAD3.5) is two vehicles in one! It can be mobilised either as a regular fire engine called a Water Tender, or as a specialist appliance called a Water Tanker. Its tank has a capacity of 9,000 litres (2,000 gallons), which is five times the capacity of a normal fire engine. Fully laden, it weighs 26 tonnes.
In Water Tanker mode, it will often be called upon to support appliances and crews from other stations at incidents throughout Aylesbury Vale.
The vehicle moved to Waddesdon from its previous base, Aylesbury Fire Station, in April 2007. Its "twin" (registration number Y83MWL, call sign BLE3.5) is currently based at Bletchley Fire Station - click HERE for a picture.
