Great Missenden is a Retained Duty System (RDS) fire station near the centre of a small old market town on the A413, eight miles south-east of Aylesbury. The area served by the fire station includes large areas of woodland, farmland, a main line rail station and major roads.

The station currently houses a Rescue Pump crewed by an establishment of 10 RDS (Retained Duty System) staff who respond to incidents from their ‘normal’ jobs working in the local community, and the fire investigation dog van crewed by Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service's fire investigation dog-handler.

In charge at the station is Watch Manager Bryan Tomes. The station has a long-standing and proactive involvement in community safety, including Home Fire Risk Checks and visits to the fire station by local groups. The station's open days and car wash days are very well suported by the local community.
