2009 open day report and picture

Paul has spent most of his career in the north of the county, serving at all of the Milton Keynes stations in various roles, including two years at Great Holm as a specialist Fire Safety Officer.

He has also served at Aylesbury in the role of Watch Manager and at Gerrards Cross as Station Manager. He became Station Manager at Newport Pagnell in November 2002 and took up his current position on 1 August 2006.

The station, which was officialy opened on 1 December 1989, has a complement of three fire engines. It covers a wide area from Stony Stratford in the north to Furzton in the south. The station also covers Central Milton Keynes and provides back-up fire engines to Bletchley.

Staff at Great Holm are actively involved in a range of Community Safety initiatives, including the Citischool project and Home Fire Risk Assessments. The station also takes part in road safety initiatives such its involvement with the Milton Keynes Cruise.

A new “hot” fire training facility has recently been developed at the station. This not only helps train its own firefighters, but also those from other stations within Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes. The facility is also used to educate the community on how accidental fires occur and how they can be avoided.
