Beaconsfield Fire Station's firefighting and rescue appliances comprise a rescue pump and fire boat crewed by wholetime firefighters and a water tender crewed by part-time Retained Duty System firefighters.
The station is committed to the safety of the Beaconsfield area and carries out Home Fire Risk Checks, demonstrations, attendance at local fetes and school visits and structured presentations to put across this message.
Its work includes liaising with groups who are known to be more vulnerable to fires and to give advice and fit smoke detectors where appropriate. There is a Community Safety Partnership Manager on site who provides a focus and coordinates the station's activities with those of other agencies.
The present station opened in 1976. Initially a day-crewed station, it now houses a total of 28 wholetime firefighters, 10 part-time firefighters, a Community Safety Partnership Manager, two support staff and the Station Manager.
The area served by Beaconsfield Fire Station lies between the Chiltern Hills to the north and the River Thames, bordering Royal Berkshire, to the south.
Beaconsfield is a market town set in the commuter belt. The surrounding areas are predominantly rural, including the villages of Burnham, Taplow, Jordans, Sear Green, Wooburn Green, Wooburn Moor, Bourne End, Penn, Loudwater, Flackwell Heath, Hedgerley, Farnham Common and Farnham Royal. The principal life risk is the M40 motorway.
Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service's Urban Search and Rescue team was based at Beaconsfield Fire Station from 2005 until March 2009, when it moved to its permanent new home at Aylesbury Fire Station.
