Fire safety training is an essential requirement for every organisation in order to protect employees, visitors or residents and to ensure the integrity of the workplace. It is also a legal obligation. Fire killed 28 people in workplaces in the UK in 2007, and the costs associated with a fire - more than 31,000 workplace fires in 2007 - cause serious disruption to business, which many businesses do not survive.
Fire safety legislation is enforced in Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes by Buckinghamshire & Milton Keynes Fire Authority. Fire safety training is provided by Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service's Industrial and Commercial Training Unit (ICTU).
Fire safety training is important - that's why it makes sense to arrange your training with the experts. All of our courses are run by experienced fire officers, who have been carefully selected for their training skills and expertise in all fire related matters. This gives you the benefit of the security and peace of mind that comes from knowing that training has been given by people with a wide experience of fire in different environments and circumstances.
The Industrial and Commercial Training Unit provides an extensive range of fire safety training courses that enable organisations both to fulfil all their legal obligations and to protect their infrastructure and employees. Courses are offered to all businesses, local authorities and other non-commercial organisations.
In addition to a variety of standard courses, there are also many specialist courses designed for organisations with specific fire safety risks, such as hotels and construction sites. Refer to the list of fire safety training courses for details, but if you do not see the course that you want, then please contact us to discuss your specific requirements. It is our objective to provide training that is both effective and relevant and we will be happy to provide a bespoke course to meet your own specific needs.
The ICTU provides courses either at one of our training centres or on-site at your premises - depending on course and client requirements. Training centres are located at Haddenham Fire Station, Sivatech Ltd in Aylesbury, Lane End Conference Centre near High Wycombe and The Safety Centre in Milton Keynes. Training centres have lecture rooms for up to 15 students with audio/visual facilities and refreshments, and have an outside area for practical exercises using fire extinguishers on live fire scenarios.
On-site courses can be provided anywhere in the UK. For courses that include live firefighting, we use portable gas trays that can be set up in any suitable outside open area at your premises.
