Electric blanket warning

Electric blanket safety

If you use an electric blanket you should have it electrically tested when it is three years old, then once a year after this.

Older blankets can have limited or no protection against overheating, so if they fail and continue to heat up, they can cause a fire. Modern electric blankets have an automatic cut-off.

Make sure you do not fall asleep with your electric blanket on in case it fails in the night, and never have a hot water bottle in the bed at the same time as an electric blanket – even if it is turned off.
